The Support Services departments at BakerRipley work in partnership with all divisions to maintain, operate, and deliver services that help keep our region a place of opportunity for all.

The Agency Volunteer Coordinator supports the agency’s volunteer recruitment, screening, management, and retention efforts.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, outgoing, personable, motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while producing high-quality work in a timely manner.  The candidate will have persuasive writing skills to craft engaging volunteer opportunities.  This position reports to the Manager of Volunteer Engagement.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports programs without dedicated volunteer manager and assists in developing new volunteer programs.
  • Responds to general phone calls and email inquiries about volunteering in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Conducts agency volunteer orientations.
  • Maintains volunteer database, including tracking hours, issuing name badges, and volunteer background check status, and reporting.
  • Assists in coordinating and managing large-scale volunteer events.
  • Coordinates and represents agency at public events including United Way speaking engagements, tours, volunteer fairs, and general agency outreach.
  • Assists in implementing and reinforcing agency volunteer policies and procedures.
  • Identifies and coordinates agency volunteer recruitment efforts, including online postings.
  • Ensures volunteer opportunities are updated on a regular basis.
  • Assists with agency fundraising and awareness events as needed.
  • Assists in planning volunteer appreciation and retention strategies.
  • Assists in managing corporate and individual volunteer events.
  • Manage development department volunteers.
  • Assist with solicitation and fundraising efforts
  • Assist with disaster recovery efforts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree


YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

0-2


SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience of managing or coordinating projects and people.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
  • Detail oriented and willing to work in a team environment.
  • Administrative and IT skills, and an ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Required to work some evenings, weekends, and Thanksgiving Day.

 

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel), ability to learn new databases quickly (Samaritan, Raiser’s Edge, etc.)

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

 Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
