We provide a continuum of services including free tax preparation, family health and education, immigration and citizenship services, financial assistance and programs for youth and seniors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY: 

Each year Neighborhood Tax Centers assists thousands of hard-working, low income families by preparing their tax returns for free at twelve locations in the Houston area.  If you are interested in helping others while working in a fast paced, stimulating environment, please consider joining our team.

The client liaison works in the main office answering taxpayer phone calls, researching and answering taxpayer questions, assisting with the transmission and processing of tax returns, and resolving transmission errors.  This is a seasonal role that requires full time availability during the 2018 Tax Season. 


CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend the NTC tax preparation training in December
  • Pass the IRS Advanced certification test
  • Answer and respond to client phone inquiries
  • Transmit returns to the IRS
  • Pull acceptance and rejected reports from the e-file system
  • Send letters to clients as needed when errors cannot be corrected and the return has to be mailed to the IRS
  • File tax return paperwork
  • Other duties as assigned by the Electronic Returns Originator or Director

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of customer service experience
  • Tax preparation experience preferred but not required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word

  • Completely fluent in Spanish and English
