Job Description

BakerRipley provides an integrated holistic education system for families and their children ages six months through eighth grade. The Choices in Education division oversees the early childhood education programs and the BakerRipley Schools, including three community-based elementary schools, one middle school, and a “New Neighbor” school for refugee children – all of which reside within our community centers. Our holistic approach to educating the entire family allows us to create a stronger and more positive impact in the community. Both children and their parents gain access to education and broader community resources to prepare them for a successful degree and/or career.


To provide speech and language services and appropriate intervention services to eligible students under the direction of a licensed supervisor. To maintain speech and language special education records and documentation as directed by licensed supervisor.


  • Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP) under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
  • Participate in Annual Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings if: a) meets requirements set forth in licensing board and b) is approved by licensed supervisor.
  • Participate in determining student progress and readiness for termination of therapy services.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
  • Administer routine tests as directed by supervisor when the licensed supervisor has assured proper training and administration of such tests.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Supports teachers and other staff members in concert with the principal and center manager.
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of the immediate supervisor.


Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university.


At least one year work related experience.


  • Valid Texas License as a speech-language therapy assistant granted by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.


  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the agency.
  • Ability to develop unique and novel solutions to problems.
  • Ability to communicate with students, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to travel throughout the city.


Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.


Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.
