The Support Services departments at BakerRipley work in partnership with all divisions to maintain, operate, and deliver services that help keep our region a place of opportunity for all.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:
 
Supports BakerRipley’s compliance & governance efforts through research and review of laws and regulations, contracts, policies, business trends, best practices and compliance issues applicable to a large and complex nonprofit organization. Manages concurrent compliance projects and periodic reviews. Develops and provides training and technical assistance. Develops and updates compliance program, policies, procedures, white papers, and compliance aids. Duties will vary according to the needs and opportunities of the agency and staff.


CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of nonprofit compliance rules, regulations and industry standards and recommends policies and practices to ensure consistency with current laws, regulations and industry standards. Documents compliance program.
  • Composes and reviews compliance policies, procedures, processes, compliance aids and white papers
  • Manages concurrent long-term and short-term compliance projects through to successful completion. Some compliance projects are confidential in nature
  • Identifies and develops training opportunities to increase staff knowledge of compliance topics
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with program and support staff to positively impact compliance outcomes
  • Identifies, recommends and initiates continuous compliance process improvements, follows up to ensure approved recommendations are fully implemented
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with external/internal contacts

  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Director

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university

Advanced degree preferred

Current professional certifications in compliance or data privacy/security or related preferred

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of professional experience in regulatory compliance, legal, data privacy and security, project management, risk analysis, audit and/or technical writing or related topics preferred. Compliance experience in one or more of the following areas strongly preferred: HIPAA, PCI-DSS or other information privacy and data security regulations, nonprofit compliance operations, or programs and services provided by the Agency

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Successful applicant may be required to obtain certifications, etc., as required by regulation or contract requirements

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to interpret large amounts of information
  • Strong professional/technical writing skills
  • Intermediate to strong facilitation and presentation skills; ability to influence and build consensus leading to improved regulatory compliance
