Job Description

Public Sector Solutions, a division of BakerRipley manages childcare subsidies in support of working parents throughout 60 counties in Texas, provides long-term recovery services for people affected by disasters, manages utility assistance for low-income individuals, and manages Workforce Solutions career offices across the region. Programs in this division are funded by public contracts and our reputation as an efficient and reliable steward of our tax dollars has seen this division grow over the years. 
 
JOB SUMMARY:

The facilitator directs community-based job search seminars and workshops to help customers get a job, keep a job or get a better job. She/he facilitates discussion among members of a group in a professional and interesting manner to achieve the objectives of the different seminars and presentations. She/he provides professional advice to customers who want job search guidance or career advice, including one-on-one resume assistance if needed. She/he also informs customers of additional staff assisted resources available in the Workforce Solutions career offices.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts training at assigned locations in public and private organizations in the 13 counties served by Workforce Solutions
  • Notifies Regional Facilitator Coordinator immediately of any situation that will impact or prevent arrival at an event or seminar at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled start time
  • Provides any feedback from the host organization to Regional Facilitator Coordinator
  • Maintains knowledge of current labor market trends and employer hiring practices
  • Develops customized presentations under the direction of the Regional Facilitator Coordinator
  • Reviews and consistently follows Job Search Seminar Issuance 09-07 (Use of job search materials.)
  • Uses customer evaluations to alter and improve presentations in cooperation with Regional Facilitator Coordinator. Summarizes evaluation comments and submits original evaluations to the Regional Facilitator Coordinator
  • Submits seminar attendance numbers to the Regional Facilitator Coordinator no later than the next business day following an event
  • Provides one-on-one resume assistance, as needed
  • Coordinates Special project assignments
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years experience in training and public speaking

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Obtain NWI Certification Level I & II within two years of employment

SKILLS:

  • Facilitation skills and thorough knowledge of all services offered through Workforce Solutions
  • Knowledge of workplace, jobs and requirement for entry into those jobs
  • Able to listen to customer, analyze expressed needs and use good judgement in suggesting solutions or next steps
  • Uses tact, diplomacy and persistence in providing suggestions to customers and communicating with representatives from outside organizations
  • Works well with divers groups from all ages and education backgrounds
  • Able to reach events within the thirteen counties

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office,

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Verbal and written English
