DIVISION PROFILE

The Sheltering Arms Senior Services division of BakerRipley offers a continuum of care to older adults and their caregivers to ensure they have the support needed to live with dignity, independence and quality of life. JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides assistance with personal care, home management, transportation, and errands to enable older adults to remain independent and living in their own homes.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides the following services as specified in the client's Service Delivery Agreement

Personal care services, including:

  • Assistance with bathing (tub, shower, or bed)
  • Assistance with dressing, grooming and hair care
  • Reminding client to take prescribed medication(s)
  • Assistance with toileting & incontinent care
  • Assistance with ambulation / transfers

Home management services, including:

  • Mopping, vacuuming, sweeping floors, and light dusting (in client areas only)
  • Changing bed linens / making bed
  • Cleaning kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and primary living area
  • Assistance with personal laundry and light ironing

Nutritional services, including:

  • Assistance with meal planning
  • Meal preparation
  • Assistance with feeding
  • Grocery shopping

Transportation / escort services, such as:

  • Accompanying or driving client to the clinic, doctor appointments, grocery shopping, social activities, etc. using public transportation, the client’s vehicle, or worker’s vehicle
  • Assistance with personal / business correspondence and payment of bills
  • Provides clients with considerate, supportive, and non-judgmental assistance
  • Reports changes in client’s status to supervisor; offers input regarding the needs of the client so that appropriate services may be provided/added
  • Completes required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
  • Attends required Agency meetings
  • Wears clean scrubs and comfortable, closed-toe shoes
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (Preferred)

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of one year of experience with direct patient care.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certifications a plus
  • Valid driver's license
  • Minimum Auto Liability Insurance
  • C.N.A. (Preferred)
  • Current TB Test preferred

SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate with individuals who may have sensory or memory impairments
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Able to follow oral and written instructions and complete all paper work accurately and neatly
  • Must have reliable transportation

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

  • Microsoft Office

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills a plus
