The Manager of Retention and Engagement leads the development and implementation of a proactive retention program and singlehandedly delivers high-quality engagement initiatives in support of the agency’s strategic direction to become the #1 place to work in this region. The leader champions the importance and value of a diverse and inclusive environment and leads the development of our annual engagement survey. This leader actively engages people leaders and employees to further behaviors, attitudes, and policies that support our agency’s mission, vision and values.

 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retention:

  • Execute a formal Internal Promotions program that will ensure 15% of all new job placements at the agency are from internal candidates
  • Build and deliver a formal Rotational Program to be leveraged across departments and within teams at the agency and account for 10% of annual job placements
  • Conducts 30 day check ins with new staff and documents results for analysis on a monthly basis
  • Partner with HRBPs to establish retention related HR practices that support succession management
  • Partner and work closely with the Learning & Development team on training and education initiatives
  • Responsible for creating reports which enable the People and Culture team to monitor progress on retention initiatives
  • Prepare written communication regarding agency retention initiates to be included in the P&C quarterly newsletter
  • Keep abreast of external/internal retention trends and techniques to ensure department is utilizing competitive practices
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and P&C partners to develop and manage retention programs and processes
  • Work with the P&C department to ensure alignment of the Agency’s vision, strategies and compliance to respective policies and procedures
  • Define and execute strategies in support of our retention and engagement commitment that will enable BakerRipley to attract, develop and retain top talent.

Engagement:

  • Manage, communicate, and analyze the annual employee engagement survey
  • Regularly monitor engagement data as well as internal metrics to advise and report to senior leaders on the progress and success of the agency’s engagement program
  • Partner with the culture and communications committee to build and execute programs that support the agency’s values, leadership principles and strategic goals
  • Leads all P&C sponsored engagement events including lecture series, outside speakers, UnitedWay campaigns, and other events as assigned
  • Leads programming and initiatives for various affinity groups to include, but not limited to, multicultural programs, Inclusion Matters series, events, mentoring programs, and Employee Resources Groups (ERGs)
  • Serves as the advisor and resource person for management in the areas of diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging
  • Leads the agency’s efforts in implementing strategic initiatives, including the creation of a culture for equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging
  • Promotes BakerRipley’s commitment to a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion through interaction with the staff, all people leaders, employees, and the community

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Five to seven years of Human Resources experience

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Human Resources Certification / PHR /SPHR/ SHRM CP/ SHRM SCP preferred

SKILLS:

    • Working knowledge of HR, specifically in retention and engagement
    • Knowledge of people leadership, managerial principles and practices
    • Understanding of establishing and managing budget
    • Knowledge of advanced theories, principles and best practices related to diversity, inclusion, equity, belonging
    • Ability to listen and influence across all agency programs and departments
    • Ability to develop programs, articulate concepts, create action plans, measure results
    • 1964 Civil Rights Act, the 1991 Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Equal Employment Opportunity, and other applicable laws
    • Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws, codes, rules, and regulations
    • Strong understanding of Human Resource principles, policies and practices
    • Propensity to influence change, understand ambiguity and lead in a fast-paced organization
    • Ability to analyze and make sound recommendations on complex people initiatives, including talent development solutions, projecting proposed actions, and making recommendations in support of goals
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

  • Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Canva, Google Suite
