Job Summary:

Serve as a housing specialist for Baker Ripley’s Hurricane Harvey Restoration programs that provide recovery assistance to the individuals and families affected by flooding who do not have resources needed to achieve recovery. The Home Restoration programs administer construction grants and oversee repairs of affected homes to a safe, sanitary, secure, and functional condition. 

Candidate must be highly motivated and qualified to manage customers through the home restoration process including eligibility, assessments, contracted work, invoicing, home inspections, and processing of grants.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews case manager referrals for eligibility and determines which home restoration program best fits homeowner’s needs.
  2. Reviews adjuster’s assessments of flooded homes and creates work orders following program guidelines required by funders, residential building science basics, and estimating knowledge.
  3. Assigns restoration jobs to contractor(s) and tracks jobs to completion. Reviews contractor documentation to ensure work is completed properly and invoices are correct. Performs home visits to review contractor work as needed.
  4. Processes grant approvals based on adjuster’s assessment of damages. Educates homeowners on determining scope of work, comparing repair bids, hiring contractors, and approving work and payment.
  5. Completes closeout documentation for each completed unit per program guidelines. Assigns expense control numbers to all invoices for payment and forwards to Accounting. Reconciles submitted invoices against accounts payable check registers and purchase acquisitions.
  6. Works with Home Restoration management and accounting to ensure timely and accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports as required by funding organizations.
  7. Represents BakerRipley in interactions with homeowners, city and county officials, and contractors.
  8. Collaborates with Home Restoration team to develop and attain program goals. Provide constructive feedback as the program evolves to create an efficient and effective program.
  9. Advise management on challenges and develop action plans to manage them.      
  10. Other Duties as Assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Knowledgeable about residential building science and experience in residential construction (i.e. experience as an estimator, inspector, superintendent, etc…).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic construction estimating.
  • Experience navigating city and county permitting processes.
  • Experience working with various contractors, stakeholders, or customers.
  • Excellent range of computer skills and knowledge of computer software applications (must know word processing, spreadsheet, and internet browser). Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Xactimate or other adjusting/estimating software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and personable presentation.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
