Public Sector Solutions, a division of BakerRipley manages childcare subsidies in support of working parents throughout 60 counties in Texas, provides long-term recovery services for people affected by disasters, manages utility assistance for low-income individuals, and manages Workforce Solutions career offices across the region.  Programs in this division are funded by public contracts and our reputation as an efficient and reliable steward of our tax dollars has seen this division grow over the years.

Serve as an adjuster for Baker Ripley’s Hurricane Harvey Restoration programs that provide recovery assistance to the individuals and families affected by flooding who do not have resources needed to achieve recovery. 

Candidate must be highly motivated and qualified to assess flood damaged homes using Xactimate or other estimating software, make recommendations for repairs, and educate homeowners on properly procuring contractors at a reasonable cost that will do quality restoration work. The Home Restoration programs administer construction grants and oversee repairs of affected homes to a safe, sanitary, secure, and functional condition. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Schedule daily inspections to maximize drive time based on locations of damaged homes.
  2. Perform on-sight inspections of Harvey flood damages to determine cause, scope of damage, and estimate the cost of repair by using Xactimate or other estimating software.
  3. Access and inspect all areas of a dwelling including attics, crawl spaces, and roofs including transition to and from a ladder to walk on the roof.
  4. Educate homeowners on determining scope of work, comparing repair bids, hiring contractors, and approving work and payment.
  5. Represent BakerRipley in interactions with homeowners, city and county officials, and contractors.
  6. Collaborate with Home Restoration team to develop and attain program goals. Provide constructive feedback as the program evolves to create an efficient and effective program.
  7. Advise management on challenges and develop action plans to manage them.      
  8. Other Duties as Assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Knowledgeable about residential building science and experience in residential construction (i.e. experience as a superintendent, general contractor, inspector, etc..).
  • Must have an adjuster’s license in Texas or be able to attend training and pass licensing extam to obtain a Texas license within 14 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in construction estimating using Xactimate or be able to attend training within 14 days of hire.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience navigating city and county permitting processes.
  • Experience working with various contractors, stakeholders, or customers.
  • Excellent range of computer skills and knowledge of computer software applications (must know word processing, spreadsheet, and internet browser). Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Xactimate or other adjusting/estimating software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and personable presentation.
