Job Snapshot

Job Description

Community Based Initiatives is a division of BakerRipley that builds on the unique economic and social assets of individuals and their neighborhoods, moving them to self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life. Largely supported by private philanthropic investment, our community-based programs engage and connect individuals to the resources that meet their emerging needs and aspirations. We provide a continuum of services including free tax preparation, family health and education, immigration and citizenship services, financial assistance and programs for youth and seniors.

The GOTV Canvassers support the agency's Voter Engagement and Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) efforts.  Under the supervision of our Community Engagement Team, the GOTV Canvassers will conduct door-to-door canvassing in our target neighborhoods with an emphasis on Pasadena, East Aldine, and the Greater Hobby Area.  They will also participate in (and in some cases lead) phone banking out of BakerRipley’s Community Centers.

Canvassers will provide voter education: where, when and how to vote, and inform community members about BakerRipley’s Community/Voter events, programming and services.
