Community Based Initiatives is a division of BakerRipley that builds on the unique economic and social assets of individuals and their neighborhoods, moving them to self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life. Largely supported by private philanthropic investment, our community-based programs engage and connect individuals to the resources that meet their emerging needs and aspirations. We provide a continuum of services including free tax preparation, family health and education, immigration and citizenship services, financial assistance and programs for youth and seniors. 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Community Resource Coordinator will coordinate neighborhood-based disaster recovery services at BakerRipley’s Restoration Centers. Responsibilities include leveraging existing partnerships and neighborhood program/services offerings based on the unique needs and vision of community members. This position is also responsible for comprehensive tracking and reporting, data collection and entry, and volunteer management.

 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Community Developer to expand on partner offerings and leverage existing partner opportunities. Services, programs and events planned should be directly geared towards families impacted by Harvey.
  • Work with other Program Coordinators to identify regional partnership opportunities to expand the impact provided to families.
  • Coordinate the distribution of basic needs assistance in areas where families affected by Harvey reside. This effort will be directly guided with an outreach approach and using an appreciative community building focus while serving families.
  • Evaluate and coordinate program/services and events to identify areas of opportunity to improve offerings for upcoming scheduled services.
  • Implement Appreciative Community Building approaches to connections with families affected by Harvey. Connections can be in the form of focus groups or visioning sessions.
  • Implement efforts of basic need distribution by managing in-kind donations, arranging delivery dates and setting distribution schedules.
  • Support the overall operations of Restoration Center, collaborating with partners and staff.
  • Ensure the continued success and growth of operations related to agency programs
  • Support the innovative practices with existing relationships, in creating new ones and with the overall programming of the center in order to add value to the center’s functions and community development efforts
  • Able to manage center’s budget and keeping a balanced financial statement reflective of the expenses required to run operations.
  • Other duties as assigned

   

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

3 years related experience required

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Texas Driver’s License with appropriate insurance coverage and ability travel throughout the city

CPR and First Aid certification required within 60 days post hire

 

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Intermediate skill in use of Windows, Excel, MS Word

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Bilingual (English/Spanish strongly preferred)

 

SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership and management
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Disaster recovery experience preferred
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends as needed
