Job Description

BakerRipley provides an integrated holistic education system for families and their children ages six months through eighth grade. The Choices in Education division oversees the early childhood education programs and the BakerRipley Schools, including three community-based elementary schools, one middle school, and a “New Neighbor” school for refugee children – all of which reside within our community centers. Our holistic approach to educating the entire family allows us to create a stronger and more positive impact in the community. Both children and their parents gain access to education and broader community resources to prepare them for a successful degree and/or career.


JOB SUMMARY:

The Center Manager ensures that center staff provides children with a learning environment and varied experiences that will help them develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stages of developments toward the overall goal of social competence. Ensures that full enrollment is maintained at all times. Facilitates ongoing thorough and clear understanding of Head Start program and Performance Standards to all center level staff.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures center operates in compliance with Federal, State and local laws, regulations and standards, including Agency Policies and other contractual agreements.
  • Facilitate ongoing thorough and clear understanding of Head Start program and Performance Standards to all center level staff.
  • Directly coordinates supportive services offered by all other Head Start/Early Head Start component areas.
  • Inspects center facilities daily for health, safety, fire and occupancy violations and takes necessary corrective action to assure that clearances, permits and licenses remain effective and up-to-date.
  • Ensures all children’s files are complete, accurate and up-to-date with all information required by Head Start Performance Standards and regulations.
  • Directly supervises center level staff to ensure to all are operating according to the terms of the HS Program Performance Standards/ TDFPS Licensing/TEA/ and NAEYC. (spell out abbreviations)
  • Establishes and maintains effective oral and written communication with the Senior Operations Coordinator, collaborative partners and program team members.
  • Conducts classroom and teacher observation and provides onsite consultation to teaching staff, as appropriate.
  • Reads and analyzes data from GOLD online assessment. (spell out abbreviation)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI), Educational Administration, Business Administration, or Management required. Combination of less or education combined with experience may be considered.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Texas Teaching Certification desirable.
  • CPR/First Aid certified.


SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience desirable. (Supervisory/ Management experience can be substituted for teaching experience.)
  • Excellent mediation skills; oral and written skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and successful experience working in teams.
  • Ability to plan, organize, allocate and control substantial financial, human, and physical resources.
  • Knowledge of the Early Head Start/Head Start/Early Child Development program philosophy and structure desirable.


COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Intermediate skill in Word, Excel, Power Point.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Bilingual preferred, but not required.
