Job Description

Public Sector Solutions, a division of BakerRipley manages childcare subsidies in support of working parents throughout 60 counties in Texas, provides long-term recovery services for people affected by disasters, manages utility assistance for low-income individuals, and manages Workforce Solutions career offices across the region. Programs in this division are funded by public contracts and our reputation as an efficient and reliable steward of our tax dollars has seen this division grow over the years.

JOB SUMMARY:

Help clients identify and realize career goals through personal consultation. The job coach will be responsible for assisting an individual with job skills, long-term workforce success strategy, educational options, communication and social skills. You will work one-on-one directly within the person's community in a variety of community settings. Responsible for ongoing coaching and guidance with individuals to ensure they are able to complete training and retain employment; provide connection to resources and financial assistance that may be necessary. At the onset of the program, coaches are also responsible for candidate recruitment.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helps clients identify personal and professional goals
  • Guides clients who desire to make career change
  • Assists clients in planning strategic career moves and leadership skills
  • Assists clients with job search skills, making contact with prospective employers and completing job applications
  • Helps clients write resumes
  • Rehearses job interview tactics with clients and offers advice
  • Performs personality and skills assessments on clients
  • Counsels clients on how to strengthen their weaknesses
  • Helps clients conquer habits that prevent job advancement
  • Answers questions concerning details about technical career paths
  • Recommends additional education to clients to help them achieve their career goals
  • Advises clients on technical training opportunities to prepare for a particular career
  • Helps clients choose appropriate technical training to match their career choice
  • Helps clients locate financial aid and other funding opportunities to pay for training
  • Holds seminars and workshops to educate individuals on technical career paths
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Counseling or related field

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in college or executive recruitment

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid diver license and appropriate insurance coverage along with reliable transportation.

SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in confidential client matters and coaching
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must have excellent motivational skills
  • Knowledge of Human Resources and Recruiting techniques
  • Knowledge of the technical labor market
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel within the Houston region COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:


LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking and writing a plus
