We provide a continuum of services including free tax preparation, family health and education, immigration and citizenship services, financial assistance and programs for youth and seniors.

JOB SUMMARY:

Each year, Neighborhood Tax Centers assists thousands of low income families by preparing their taxes for free at twelve locations in the Houston area.  If you are interested helping others while working in a fast paced, stimulating environment, please consider joining our team.

 

The Intake Specialist greets clients as they arrive at the tax center, verifies that their returns are within the scope of the VITA program, verifies that all paperwork is completed, ensures that clients are served by tax preparers in the order of arrival, and provides translation services as needed. 

 

The part-time intake specialist position is only available at two locations.  One requires evening and weekend hours.  The other requires both Saturdays and Sundays. 



CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets clients as they arrive at the tax center
  • Reviews client documents to ensure completeness and that tax return is within scope and income limits
  • Ensures that all NTC paperwork is properly completed
  • Provides translation services in Spanish as needed
  • Verifies that there are sufficient supplies at the intake desk
  • Attends the NTC Intake training class
  • Passes the IRS Standards of Conduct exam
  • Other duties as assigned by Tax Center Manager or Director

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

High School Diplom or GED            


YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

2 years of customer service experience


COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Moderately proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word 


LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Complete flluency in Spanish and English
