We provide a continuum of services including free tax preparation, family health and education, immigration and citizenship services, financial assistance and programs for youth and seniors.

JOB SUMMARY:

Administers ESL/Citizenship testing to adult learners enrolled in the Citizenship classes. Assists the Citizenship Coordinator with making sure all students are pre and post-tested and works with students to provide support where needed in order to increase retention. Assists with data entry and attendance. The position is approximately 8-14 hours per week. The position requires travel to centers (East Aldine, Gulfton-Sharpstown, Cleveland-Ripley, Ripley House) 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers BEST Plus 2.0 testing and Civics Competency test for incoming and exiting participants
  • Supports Citizenship Coordinator with data entry of participants, including attendance, entering scores, and enrolling students
  • Supports with Citizenship class study groups
  • Supports with calling students about upcoming class registrations, class cancellations, or participant absences
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management
  • If applicant is not already Best PLUS (2.0) certified, agency will require certification within four weeks of start date
  • Other duties as assigned

  

 

 

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalency

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

Entry level; 1+ years relevant experience preferred. Best PLUS (2.0) Certification Preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent customer service.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate and proficient in use of Windows, Excel, MS Word.
  • Willing to work flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends as needed.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Proficient in Windows, Excel, MS Word
