Job Description


  • Develop and implement a transition pathway to post-secondary enrollment and/or career placement.
  • Provide student support services directly to a small number of students in order to guide implementation based on personal experience for 65% of students.
  • Develop a resource and referral system that connects students with top resources.


  • Assist students with the identification of personal and professional goals, creating a plan that will follow them through the program.
  • Create a student contact and tracking system that ensures regular, consistent student communication across all classes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on post-secondary and technical training opportunities.
  • Work with Academic Coordinator and Instructor Team to define student hand-off points and how best to support student retention and persistence.
  • Ensure student intake and program orientation include connections to Student Support team.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate data entry for Student Support team.
  • Lead monthly reporting for team including brief analysis of target performance and areas of concern.
  • Provide support for workplace literacy and integrated training programs.
  • Monitor and expedite procedures, protocols, forms, student files, and other logistical support activities for the Student Support team.
  • Ensure compliance is met for Student Support activities under any Texas Workforce Commission Adult Education and Literacy funded programs.
  • Convene and facilitate trainings/workshops on applicable support topics such as financial literacy, career exploration, community college entry process, accessing career services, resume writing, etc.
  • Ensure trainings are screened for student understanding including plain language summaries, native language translation, and opportunities for Q&A and student follow-up.
  • Design opportunities for volunteer engagement and provide coordination of volunteers when involved with Student Support activities.
  • Assist in the long-term design of a follow-up and alumni process for students who complete or leave the program.
  • Commit to modeling agency core values with all members of the team including volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Although this role is currently remote with most of the student support occurring via phone or email, it will eventually be based from the Pasadena campus and require weekly/monthly travel between various BakerRipley and community college campus locations. Bilingual candidates are strongly urged to apply, as it is required to be conversational bilingual with Spanish and English.
