We are seeking a seasoned communications professional – a creative and responsive storyteller who can effectively deliver our key messages to targeted audiences. 

The Senior Communication Specialist, Office of the CEO is a seasoned communications professional responsible for developing and executing robust communication strategies and content about BakerRipley’s work from the voice of the President and CEO.  The candidate must have the ability to take information and transform it into effective key messages that engage and inform our audiences about our work.  The position is able to translate the strategic communications goals of the President/CEO into compelling content across various media to advance the agency’s mission. Senior Communications Specialist, Office of the CEO is someone who can write across a range of media and formats, develop communication plans, and deliver/present the message because he/she has a strong grasp of our audiences and objectives.  The position is experienced working with C-suite executives and leaders across different areas of an organization.


  • Script writing: conceiving, researching, writing, editing, and / or publishing written materials and strategic communications, including publications, articles, proposals, speeches, and promotional material that supports the mission and vision of the agency from the voice of the President/CEO
  • Speech writing: focusing on major speeches, remarks, and public communications that articulate the vision and ideas for the President/CEO
  • Content Creation:  conceptualize, research, write, and edit content.  Writing should be compelling in order to inform Agency stakeholders.  Writing should be grammatically clean, versatile in short and long-form copy, as well as effective for headlines, taglines, and calls to action    
  • Write with varied styles and tones to appeal to different audiences across multiple channels:  Author effective communications that target different audiences and promote distinct calls to action (persuasive, creative, and informative writing styles) across a variety channels:  blogs, social media, email, presentations, and other major communications
  • Develops and executes communication strategies
  • Works closely with the Office of the President/CEO to acquire compelling content for communications.  Collaborates with Marketing & Communications team to share content through various channels including newsletters, press releases, e-mails, social media, and blogs, among others
  • Internal communications (emails, video, blogs) to promote CEO engagement with staff and external audiences
  • Works with HR to create holistic communications/engagement plan and implement deliverables
  • Responsible for Board communications (2x month) and presentations
  • Creates reports that track impact and effectiveness of communications and content
  • Assists in upholding and implementing the Agency’s Branding
  • Captures digital images through photography as needed
  • A member of the spokespersons team for The Office of the President/CEO
  • Active participant for various CEO meetings, events, etc.
  • Provides President’s update to e-team
  • Provides President’s report to Board
  • Responsible for letters and emails to partners
  • Responsible for external communications: briefs, presentations, talking points, etc.
  • General messaging to people on why and what we need from them
  • Create and maintain CEO portfolio (Bios and photos; Awards, recognitions, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned the Office of the President/CEO

Job Requirements


Requires a 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed – communications, public relations and journalism.


Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience


  • Excellent writing/editing skills- short and long hand copywriting, creative writing, reporting, and journalism
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to write in multiple styles for multiple audiences across multiple formats (digital and print)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Understanding and experience in crisis communications, journalism and/or media relations
  • Knowledge and experience using the following channels of communication: social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube) and blogging
  • Ability to manage multiple key initiatives/projects concurrently
  • Photo journalism
  • Familiarity with CAN-SPAM rules and list management.
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies
  • A highly collaborative style
  • Strong leadership
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives


  • Microsoft Office
  • Experience using design software is a plus
