Job Description

The Support Services departments at BakerRipley work in partnership with all divisions to maintain, operate, and deliver services that help keep our region a place of opportunity for all.

JOB SUMMARY: 

Working with the Agency’s Safety and Security Committee, the Manager guides the development and implementation of the BakerRipley Safety and Security program. The Program will establish a compliance and risk based approach to protect people, assets and property while supporting community engagement efforts is in place at each facility.  The program will promote a safe, hazard free environment and effectively communicate policies, procedures, and safety and security measures, while also providing emergency preparedness resources.

 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. As the staff lead to the Agency’s Safety and Security Team:
    1. Assists in the ongoing development and updates to the agency-wide Safety and Security Plan that establishes the agency’s commitment to health, safety and security of our staff, community and assets. This Plan will serve as a reference to both agency-wide and site specific practices, procedures, policies and compliance requirements and include an Incident Management Plan and Emergency Response Procedures.
    2. Identifies best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
    3. Coordinates worker safety training in areas such as safety laws, regulations and training that meets the requirements for each agency department. Coordinates employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development.
    4. Coordinates the agency-wide drill program that outlines the required drills and staff responsibilities specific to location, type of facility, regulation compliance, management guidance, etc.
    5. Monitors the Incident Reporting system and coordinates responses to key Incident Report issues, tracking cause & effects, critical incident response and providing recommendations. Conducts routine audit of Log to ensure follow-up (as applicable) to events.
    6. Coordinates the annual review/update of various department’s Safety and Security Handbook in alignment with the Agency’s’ Safety/Security Plan.
    7. Routine review and updates to the various site’s Red Book to verify compliance with documentation of required drills, inspections and permitting of facilities for their associated life/health/safety equipment and procedures established guidelines of governing bodies.
    8. Coordinates the annual review/update of various department’s Safety and Security Handbook in alignment with the Agency’s’ Safety/Security Plan
  2. Maintains the safety central file database, which includes documents, forms, staff communications, spreadsheets, training information, equipment and parts lists, policy and procedure documents, bid and contract specifications, and inspection protocol lists.
  3. Coordinates Significant Event responses as directed by the Sr. Director of Facilities and/or the Sr. Director of People and Culture.
  4. Provides administrative support for the annual review and updating of the agency’s Disaster Recovery Plan.
  5. Assists with work coordination for vendor/contractors that are required for life-safety operation of facilities, and the agency's security personnel contract(s) including fleet maintenance, elevator, GPS, fire, locksmith, and security to ensure quality service.
  6. Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Life/Health/Safety certified training (OSHA, CSHO); Valid Texas Driver’s License

SKILLS:

  • Fundamental knowledge of applicable environmental, worker safety, and life-safety regulations which includes OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, applicable fire codes and licensing requirements for federal Head Start and state Charter School programs
  • Fundamental understanding of building systems and components related to fire suppression systems, fire alarm monitoring, video surveillance, and security systems.
  • Experience working with general contractors/vendors, and obtaining proposals while understanding pricing/budget management/end results.
  • Documented experience in successful implementation of life-safety training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety compliance and training programs.
  • Skilled in risk management with the ability to assess and strategic think through risk and workplace safety issues.
  • Ability to effectively present information to large groups.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • A clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations, without exception.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Highly self-motivated, with attention to details.
  • Oversee multiple projects.
  • Disciplined leadership skills

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Typing skills of 20 words per minute, proficient Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
