Public Sector Solutions, a division of BakerRipley manages childcare subsidies in support of working parents throughout 60 counties in Texas, provides long-term recovery services for people affected by disasters, manages utility assistance for low-income individuals, and manages Workforce Solutions career offices across the region. The Lead Program Assistant is organized and prepared, communicates in a professional and courteous manner; and collaborates with team members and management. The Lead Program Assistant provides administrative support to Child Care Services, performs data entry into Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and various databases. The Lead Program Assistant is responsible for maintaining filing systems, coordinating the transporting of files between offices, and traveling to the other offices to assist with filing systems as the need arises. The Lead Program Assistant composes professionally written correspondence. The Lead Program Assistant ensures the flow of work and deadlines are met among the Program Assistant staff; provide technical assistance and conducts policy and procedure training to other Program Assistant staff.


  • Performs data entry using TWIST application, and Microsoft Office Product software
  • Works with Supervisor to ensure adequate coverage when Support Staff are absent and is back-up for specified daily tasks
  • Processes paperwork by reviewing for accuracy and filing
  • Maintaining customer, provider and financial files
  • Promotes and demonstrates strong positive customer service skills
  • Gathers and records information from walk-in customers
  • Answers incoming phone calls
  • Prepares files for archiving to storage
  • Coordinates ordering of office supplies
  • Coordinates office maintenance and repairs
  • Maintains inventory control and completes annual inventory review
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain operations

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED 


  • Two years of administrative assistant/support experience
  • Must have served one of the years as a Support Specialist or Program Assistant with BakerRipley


  • Must have critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to problem solve
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and data entry into specific applications
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Must be on time each day and have regular attendance
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed
  • Ability to write clear and accurate correspondence
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to resolve difficult situations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Must have Excellent customer service

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required
