Job Description

Reporting directly to the principal, the Instructional Coordinator (IC) plays a critical role in driving academic achievement for all students. The IC ensures academic excellence by working closely with the principal to lead student interventions, support, and instruction school wide. The IC also serves as a cultural and community leader by supporting students and coordinating activities to ensure all s working together to close instructional gaps- including addressing interventions, culture, discipline for learning, and parent engagement. The position furthers the mission of Promise Community Schools and BakerRipley because it helps ensure that all students and families are equipped to learn with the right tools in a safe environment.

Instructional Leadership

  • Encourage and support the development of students, teachers and staff around provide interventions and resources aimed at increasing student success and  educator  efficacy.
  • Support students and teachers to provide effective tier 1 teaching and tier 2/3 supports, including co–planning, small group teaching and modeling high quality interventions, instruction and small group lessons as necessary
  • Coach and develop teachers to ensure that all teachers are engaged in a conversation of student success and interventions and needed professional growth to meet these goals
  • Lead and/or contribute to the design and implementation of weekly staff professional development and collaborative planning time
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) to ensure that teachers are receiving the necessary support and professional development to maximize the delivery of daily instruction and interventions
  • Support School culture of success supporting Student Management and Parent Outreach
  • Promote collaborative problem solving and open communication among teaching staff members
  • Ensure a school culture where students, educators, and members of the school community demonstrate Promise Community School beliefs, values, and behaviors
  • Manage self and others in a manner that creates a healthy, high-achieving environment where staff feel challenged, and also fully supported and valued
  • Create a school community that fully involves parents in student achievement through multiple outlets including home visits, regular community meetings, and parent/family meetings
  • Lead and/or support network-wide initiatives as needed to foster strong school culture, academic excellence, and network growth
  • Intervene with support when students have challenges in attendance, academics or discipline
  • Work with the leadership team to administer discipline
  • Assist teachers to develop strong partnerships with parents by enhancing communications
