Public Sector Solutions, a division of BakerRipley Inc. manages childcare subsidies in support of working parents throughout 60 counties in Texas, provides long-term recovery services for people affected by disasters, manages utility assistance for low-income individuals, and manages Workforce Solutions career offices across the region.  Programs in this division are funded by public contracts and our reputation as an efficient and reliable steward of our tax dollars has seen this division grow over the years.

Job Summary:

The Employment Coordinator (EC) is responsible for providing exemplary customer service to Aspire candidates, team management, employers, and community partners. The Employment Coordinator will seek employment opportunities for Aspire candidates and serve as a liaison to employer partners. The EC is responsible for managing job placements, job readiness workshops, seminars, and career fairs.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Seek job openings and employer agreements from private sector employers to fulfill program employment targets by using a variety of methods (cold calls, online databases, social media, employer referrals and networking).
  • Manage the recruitment and hiring process for Aspire candidates.
  • Match Aspire candidates to work opportunities, facilitate job readiness workshops and coordinate job fairs.
  • Assist individuals with registering with Work in Texas, connect them with job openings matching their interest, and refer them to job leads.
  • Track daily activities with employer partners, follow up and record notes on progress.
  • Regularly attend partner meetings, evening events, and other opportunities to develop partnerships with employers and organizations offering on-the-job training, and apprenticeship programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s Degree required.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience as a human resource recruiter or experience with providing direct client assistance, with at least two (2) years providing employment services experience preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Consistent discipline in upholding confidentiality with all sensitive matters
  • Ability to apply creativity to solve problems
  • Works well in teams and flexible, congenial, and adaptable
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and organized
  • Reliable transportation- travel required throughout the Houston area and surrounding cities.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
