Job Description

BakerRipley provides an integrated holistic education system for families and their children ages six months through eighth grade. The Choices in Education division oversees the early childhood education programs and the BakerRipley Schools, including three community-based elementary schools, one middle school, and a “New Neighbor” school for refugee children – all of which reside within our community centers. Our holistic approach to educating the entire family allows us to create a stronger and more positive impact in the community.  Both children and their parents gain access to education and broader community resources to prepare them for a successful degree and/or career.


Revitalize outdated and unused library by developing and maintaining a collection of resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the instructional strategies used within the school community.


  • Conduct comprehensive inventory of existing library, organize resources according to professional criteria, and ensure all resources are properly cataloged
  • Select and catalog new library resources so that the collection meets the needs of the students, teachers and budget guidelines
  • Establish district policies regarding materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable use
  • Maintain daily library operations
  • Create and maintain a teaching and learning environment that is inviting, safe, flexible, and conducive to student learning
  • Create book displays and programs to promote the use of the library
  • Serve as an instructional partner for teachers and staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required


At least (1) year work related experience


Texas certificate for School Librarian

  • Openness and warmth in working relationships with students and staff
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of students with special needs and their parents

  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Responsiveness; Follow-up and follow-through with students, families, and faculty members is essential


General Technology proficiency required


 Bilingual ( English/Spanish) a plus
