The Public Sector Solutions departments specialize in transferring our nonprofit experience and skills into the design and implementation of effective human services programs for other organizations and government entities. 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Disaster Recovery Eligibility Specialist is a highly motivated and organized individual with a passion and talent for helping others. The Eligibility Specialist will work with a team of social workers, relocation and employment specialists, and other disaster relief professionals to deliver direct services and identify appropriate strategies and assist families in crisis.

Specialists will utilize their knowledge of the community to establish effective relationships with neighbors in need; provide case management, referral, and seamless coordination with other community and supportive services activities that promote recovery support.

This position is temporary 

 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interview applicants to obtain initial information to complete applications to determine program eligibility
  • Advise and explain program guidelines and forms to homeowners
  • Collect and verify information
  • Send, receive, analyze, and process electronic and hard copy correspondence, documents and forms
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with coworkers, homeowners, and other external groups to provide effective and timely customer service, information, and problem resolution.
  • Effectively utilize all available resources.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Candidates must be able to work variable hours dependent on workload including evenings
  • Candidates must be able to work up to one Saturday a month
  • Candidates must be able to move to various locations as needed
  • Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control during difficult circumstances and emergencies and to respond in a professional manner in all situations.
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical skills that reflect the ability to focus on gathering and documenting detailed information.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years’ experience in the work place or

Substitute 1 year of workforce experience for each year of college 

EXPERIENCE:

Delivering support or case management services

Customer service experience

Utilizing computer applications including Work-In-Texas, the Workforce Information System or Texas (TWIST) and TWIST reporting

Minimum of two years’ experience in the work place or

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY:

Microsoft Windows and Office
