Job Description

Expected Outcomes:

  • The NTC Director will be responsible for fulfilling the agency’s goal of no less than 30,000 tax returns on an annual basis
  • Oversee the management and operations of 1 year round tax center site and various seasonal tax center locations
  • Prepare and maintain the program budget to support the NTC Vita program with weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates to the senior leadership team

Essential Functions:

  • Develops program budget and manages expenditures to ensure program needs are met while staying within budget.
  • Works with the staff to ensure they are fulfilling all of their responsibilities completely and in a timely fashion.  These include tax center management, community outreach, volunteer recruitment, volunteer and intake specialist training, tax site logistics, transmission office procedures, ITIN applications, data management, and report preparation
  • Researches and provides training for staff on changes in VITA rules and tax law that affect our neighbors
  • Researches best practices of other large VITA programs and implements changes to NTC procedures as necessary to improve efficiency and/or quality
  • Works with the Sr. Director  and Volunteer Manager to develop new partnerships for volunteer recruitment
  • Works with the Sr. Director  to develop new partnerships expansion of program services
  • Participates in media events as needed
  • Works with the Sr. Director and Operations Coordinator to ensure all funder and agency reports are completed properly and on time
  • Participates in hiring  all seasonal staff
  • Oversees the training by the NTC tax center staff of the seasonal tax site managers and transmission office staff
  • Provides tax and procedural expertise to the tax centers
  • Ensures that all staff members and volunteers are aware of and are observing VITA rules and scope limitations.
  • Monitors tax preparation quality at all tax centers and implements quality control measures as necessary
  • Provides professional guidance and development to the year-round staff
  • Passes the IRS Advanced Certification test annually
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and long hours from January through April
  • Other duties as assigned
