Job Description


  • The Director of Donor Relations creates and implements a donor relations strategy within first 90 days of assuming the role. Strategy will include: donor journey mapping, moves management strategy, annual giving and stewardship plan, and acquisition campaign strategy.
  • This position will lead the creation of donor communications for appeals, stewardship and cultivation across donor segments that contribute to increased donor engagement, retention and donations.
  • Leads market-level fundraising initiatives that meet the predetermined department objectives and metrics.


  • Responsible for managing an organization-wide comprehensive acquisition, stewardship and annual giving programs
  • Oversee a data-driven process, grounded in fundraising fundamentals and current trends, to develop new donors, retain and grow existing donors, and support the positioning strategy of BakerRipley to meet fundraising goals
  • Manage the execution of the donor relationship strategy across the division to ensure proper cultivation and stewardship of new and existing donors that results in increased donor retention, engagement, and support
  • Utilize donor-related data to formulate clear goals and action plans
  • Ensure donors receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition to strengthen their engagement
  • Develop and implement strategic, donor-focused communications in multiple mediums in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain an integrated calendar for donor cultivation and stewardship
  • Develop consistent donor engagement policies and protocols in collaboration with Grant Development and Major Gifts departments


  • 7+ job related experience in nonprofit development and/or donor relations
  • Experience working in development communications and/or fundraising teams in the nonprofit industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising and track record of securing market level donations.
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to produce high quality work.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Donor centric writing experience
  • Experience working with Marketing teams
  • Has experience overseeing, developing and executing donor acquisition, annual giving and stewardship campaigns


  • Experience working in RaisersEdge or relevant CRM platform, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with CAN-SPAM rules and list management
