Job Description

As a member of the Adult Education Division, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking Adult Education department dedicated to engaging and connecting adult students to their educational goals and personal aspirations to advance BakerRipley’s impact in the Houston region.

Reporting to the Director of Learning & Workforce Initiatives the AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for designing and implementing a recruitment and retention plan and job coaching program for volunteers.

 Essential Functions

•        Research ideas to building capacity around current volunteer and job coaching program to expand, refine and strengthen           the current program

•       Create standard operating procedures for volunteer program activities

•       Assist department leadership in the development and posting of volunteer job descriptions

•       Create presentation materials and informational handout for volunteer program

•       Assist in the coordination, implementation, and tracking of volunteer management activities

•       Oversee volunteer activities and assist in ensuring the volunteer experience is meaningful

•       Develop a plan to recognize volunteer contributions and achievements

Expected Positive Outcomes 

• Evaluate current volunteer program, develop and implement changes to strengthen program within the first 3 months.
• Evaluate current volunteer positions and department needs and implement recruitment strategies based on current needs within the first 3 months.
• Develop and implement a volunteer training/orientation and matching system for mentors and mentees
